The world of technology is advancing all the time and children are exposed more and more to the wonders of it.
There is constant chatter about the latest games, software and hardware available across the schools, so it is clear the children are excited about computing and want to learn how to use the latest software.
With this in mind, we encourage children to use the internet safely, so each year children are reminded of how to use the internet safely and take part in an e-safety module as part of their Computing curriculum.
Our IT curriculum is based around the Purple Mash scheme as it allows the school access to all of the resources and software required to implement it. The scheme of work goes from Reception, up to Y6 and includes focused units on e-safety in all year groups. As well as the core IT subject teaching, devices and tools are used in all areas of the curriculum to maixmise learning opportunities and motivate and inspire learners.
The IT curriculum is supported by a team of digital leaders who are responsible for running the ICT club, helping other classes with IT, look after the equipment and store it safely and who suggest improvements to IT across the school.
IT is a key driver across the full curriculum, the staff at Spring Cottage are embracing the use of technology as a tool to accelerate progress across at subjects. We look to use multimedia programs to produce, present and evaluate our work. Our resources allow us to access sources of information in many forms to aid historical enquiry, showcase our work in art and poetry, analyse performance in PE, listen to our music performances and much more.
